Diasporic Indigenous Storytelling
Please join us on Thursday, May 2nd at 5pm for "Dreaming of Worlds for the Lost & Stolen," the third event in the series Diasporic Indigenous Storytelling with Zapotec and Taíno Art. Our invited artist, Loma (juliany taveras) will facilitate a collective storytelling workshop inviting us to imagine works in the Princeton University Art Museum beyond settler colonial limits—not just the physical borders & boxes, but so too its ontologies & epistemologies. By both offering some anichiku (wisdom) from their own elders & ancestors, as well as leading the group in personal & collective reflection/self-expression, Loma hopes this gathering will help reanimate the lost & stolen beings in the museum’s “collection”—as well as our own imaginations—in the name of decolonized futures.
