FCP Criteria

Description

The Faculty Computer Program, in place since 1996, refreshes the desktop and laptop technology of eligible faculty ranks. The refresh cycle is a new computer every four years. OIT maintains the historical data regarding eligible faculty and computers and administers the program.

The University aims to encourage a common platform for electronic communications  and core applications through several computer acquisition programs: DeSC, Faculty Computer Program and the Student Computer Initiative.

Eligibility

The criteria for participating in the program are:

Faculty ranks which may  participate in this initiative: 

  • Instructor
  • Senior Lecturer
  • Senior Research Scholar
  • Assistant Professor
  • Associate Professor
  • Professor

Program Instruction for FCP Computers

  • FCP computer's machine name requirements:
    • Fifteen (15) or less characters 
    • Must be submitted to faccomp@princeton.edu to complete the FCP reinbursement process.

Suggestions for FCP hostnames names

Department Prefix-mmddyyyya (ie. SOC-01022012A or SOC-01022012B)

Department Prefix or FCP-serialnum (FCP reinbursement will be delay until computer name is submitted)

Department Prefix-FCP1 (ie. SOC-SOC1, SOC-SOC2, SOC-FCP5 )

Department Prefix-random word or place (ie. SOC-NASSAU, SOC-WALLACE1, SOC-CORWIN2, SOC-CHAIR)

FCP-random word or place or faculty name (FCP-Warren, FCP -NASSAU)

Note: For all above, keep total length to 15 characters or less. In the case of Apple s/n's you will need to trim the S/N)
