Setting Up Your Campus Phone and Voice Mail
The University provides local, long distance and Caller ID service in all dorm rooms. Students must provide their own touch-tone phone. Additionally, each student has their own voice message box and long distance PAC, or personal authorization code which allows students to place billable long distance calls from their dorm room. Your room phone number and your voice message box can be found in your entry in the campus directory. Your PAC which remains the same throughout your stay at Princeton, is retrievable from the OIT Telephone Services website, as is information about voice mail and Enabled Voice Mail (EVM), which sends voice messages to your e-mail inbox as audio file attachments. In addition, the OIT Telephone Services office offers students several telephone sets for purchase.
Interested in Cable TV?
Television viewing can be done from the comfort of your dorm room. TigerTV provides everyone with limited basic cable TV service, including some network channels. For a subscription fee, you can watch everything from cartoons and sports to old movies and HBO specials.
Computer and Networking Questions
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) handles all computer and networking questions. The OIT Help Desk is available to help with all of your computing questions and is open 24 hours a day seven days a week. The Help Desk phone number is 609-258-HELP (4357). You can also send e-mail to helpdesk@princeton.edu.
Residential Computing Consultants (RCCs) can provide assistance in your dorm room. RCCs can be contacted whenever you need assistance.
If you’d like to work directly with an OIT technician, you can visit the OIT Solutions Center (located in the Frist Campus Center).
