Getting Around Campus

Campus Walkways and Sidewalks
Campus walkways and sidewalks connecting buildings throughout campus have been designed to make Princeton's 500-acre campus pedestrian friendly.
The Campus Shuttle
The P-Ride Campus Shuttle is a great way to get around campus. The Orange Line (a.k.a. “Tiger Tram”) travels Elm Drive between Lot #7 and Firestone Library with stops at Wilcox Walk, Dod Hall and Clio Hall. You’ll find shuttle stops throughout campus. P-Ride Express provides late night shuttle service. This includes late night weekend transportation from the Princeton Junction train station when the Dinky is not running.
Bicycle
Many students find that one of the best ways to get around Princeton's 500-acre campus is by bicycle. There are pedestrian-shared paved paths throughout campus. If you bring a bicycle to campus, you are encouraged to register your bike with the Department of Public Safety. In addition, there are regulations for securing it in the interior and exterior of buildings. For a minimal fee the Department of Public Safety will supply you with a U-shaped lock to secure your bike to any of the University provided bike stands located throughout campus. If you choose to store your bicycle in your room our carpenters will install bike hooks for this purpose. To request this service complete an online service request or contact Facilities Customer Service.
Car
The campus is a pedestrian campus and not navigated by car. If you choose to bring a vehicle to campus for off-campus transportation, you must register your vehicle to obtain a parking permit and adhere to specific parking regulations. Freshmen may not bring a vehicle on campus.

The "Dinky" Station
The campus is connected to the New Jersey Transit commuter train system by a connecting line to the Princeton Junction train station. Due to the size of the rail car, the connecting train is referred to as the “Dinky.” You’ll find the Dinky Station just below McCarter Theater Center on the campus map. Late nights on weekends, when the Dinky is not running, you may contact P-Ride Express for transportation from the Princeton Junction train station to campus.
