The department of Housing and Real Estate Services announces a reallocation of Housing Operations staff to improve service to residents of University properties.

Area Coordinators and Maintenance in University Apartments and Houses
To provide repairs effectively and efficiently area coordinators have been assigned to manage the maintenance of University housing properties. In addition to performing routine maintenance, area coordinators will identify recurrent and complicated repairs in need of specialized technicians and make arrangements for service. To insure repairs have been completed, area coordinators will follow up with residents on all service requests.

Residents should note that each of the newly appointed area coordinators previously held the title of superintendent with offices in six apartment complexes. To improve service to our residents, these offices have been consolidated and the method for requesting maintenance has changed.

Requesting Maintenance
To request maintenance, residents of University properties are now directed to contact the Facilities Service Center. The Facilities Service Center provides a central point of contact to residents of University properties in resolving maintenance issues. Facilities service representatives are on hand to answer questions and forward your service request directly to the appropriate area coordinator. Contact the Facilities Service Center during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. by telephone or anytime by completing an online service request. Revisions to Housing Inspection Program
Reallocation of staff will also result in revisions to the Housing Inspections program. Besides being first responders to maintenance issues, area coordinators assigned to University apartments and houses will perform safety and unit condition inspections, including CO/smoke detector battery changes and pre-vacate inspections. Although all units will be inspected annually, consolidating the responsibility for both maintenance and inspections to area coordinators will result in less disruption to tenants as well as an improved response to safety and maintenance issues.
