Hot Water Unavailable at Wu, Wilcox, 1915, 1927/Clapp, Dodge-Osborne, 1938, 1937, Feinberg and Walker Halls on Monday, 9/1/2009.
A steam pipe leak has been detected in the feeder to these buildings. The leak is being monitored over the weekend and will be repaired on Monday morning. During the repair, no domestic hot water will be available in the affected areas.

There will be an electrical power outage in Edwards Hall on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 9 a .m. – 12 p.m.
During the electrical power outage all electrically operated equipment will be unusable. It is recommended that all computing equipment be powered down. Other equipment affected are printers, fax machines, copiers, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, washers, driers, elevators, televisions, lights, phones, intercoms, modems, fans, air conditioners, air handling
There will be a brief (2 minute) power interruption to MacMillan Building on Friday, August 21 at 6:15 a.m.. This interruption is necessary for switching operations. It is recommended that computer users shut down their computers when leaving on Thursday night to avoid any problems.
There will be a steam outage on the following weekends:
Friday, August 21 at 4 p.m. through Monday, August 24 at 8 a.m. and Friday, August 28 at 4 p.m. through Monday, August 31 at 8 a.m.
The interruption will affect the following buildings:

Witherspoon Hall
Little Hall

This shut down is necessary so steam flow meters may be installed.
This outage will result in the loss of steam used for domestic hot water and heat. Air conditioning will NOT be affected.
The Office of Design and Construction will be conducting a series of emergency lighting tests in several dormitories during the month of August. These tests will require a shutdown of the main electrial power to each building during the testing period. This means there will be no power during this period except for that equipment which is currently wired to the emergency panels. A power interruption is scheduled for Tuesday August 18, 2009 from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. for work related to the Wu- Wilcox Renovation Project.
Buildings effected will be Wilcox, Wu, Gauss and 1939 Halls. It is recommended that all computing equipment be powered down and all perishables be removed from refrigerators in advance of these outages. On Monday August 17th through Wednesday August 19th , 2009, a portion of Elm Drive will be closed to all vehicles from the second circle just below the lower guard booth to the stop sign at the Wu Hall loading dock from 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM to mill and pave Elm Drive. All traffic travelling up campus will be detoured around the parking garage, up Pyne drive and around Whitman College back onto Elm Drive.

A building wide water shutdown will take place at the Frist Campus Center on Saturday, August 15 from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m.. The shutdown will affect all restrooms, lounges, drinking fountains and kitchen equipment.
A steam and domestic hot water shutdown will occur at the Lewis Thomas Laboratory on Saturday, August 15 from 5 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.. The buildings heating, sterilizes, glass wash machines, restrooms, lab sinks and departmental equipent will be affected.
The bluestone walkway on the north side of the U Store is being repaired and will be closed until Thursday 8/13.
