Annual Campus Steam Shutdown, Thursday, June 7
Each year Facilities conducts a plant steam system shutdown to safely perform new building steam pipe connections, some energy saving projects, and various system wide preventative and corrective maintenance. This year's shutdown will affect all buildings on the main campus, as well as Forbes College, McCarter Theater, 1-14, West College Road Apartments, Hibben and Magie Apartments, and the Graduate College.
The shutdown will occur on Thursday, June 7 beginning shortly after midnight and ending at approximately 11 p.m.
We chose this shutdown date to reduce the impact on campus customers.
In summer steam is used for domestic hot water, some types of clothes dryers, laboratory autoclaves, cage washers, sterilizers, commercial kitchens, and for space re-heat after the air has been dehumidified by the cooling coils.
We apologize for any inconvenience this shutdown may cause. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Ted Borer, (609) 258-3966 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
