Campus Access Control System (CACS)
Overview
The Campus Access Control System (CACS) is a keyless entry system. It is programmed to lock and unlock doors on a time schedule. When the doors are locked, individuals may gain access using their TigerCard which contains a prox chip identifying the cardholder to the panels in the building. Doors will unlock if the cardholder has the appropriate clearance code. The University has determined that CACS is an improvement over a traditional key lock system. Eventually it will be installed on most exterior doors. Although most buildings on campus are secured by CACS, some buildings are secured by a traditional lock and key system.
