Troubleshooting and Reporting CACS Entry Problems
Building entry problems for CACS secured buildings can be caused by several factors.
- The card reader on the door malfunctions.
- The lock on the door malfunctions.
- Your TigerCard is "dead".
- Your TigerCard was not programmed with the appropriate clearance code to allow you to enter a particular building.
Troubleshooting the Problem
Troubleshooting the problem will determine the proper method to make the repair. Follow this troubleshooting guide with directions for reporting the problem. Please contact Facilities Customer Services if you have any questions.
- Problem:
When presenting your TigerCard to the reader the reader light is not lit.
Solution:
The reader is malfunctioning and needs to be repaired by the Alarm Shop.
Contact:
Contact Facilities Customer Services to report the problem. Please specify door location, including entry where relevant, and include the results of your troubleshooting.
After business hours contact Public Safety. - Problem:
When you present your card to the reader it does not beep.
Solution:
Your TigerCard is "dead" and needs to be replaced by the TigerCard Office.
Contact:
Go to the TIgerCard Office for a card replacement. - Problem:
When you present your card to the reader, it beeps, the door does not open, and the light on the reader shows solid amber.
Solution:
You do not have clearance to enter this door. Clearance changes are made during business hours only.
Contact:
Contact your Department or Building contact. They will approve and request the proper clearance code. - Problem:
When you present your card to the reader, it beeps, the door does not unlock, although the light on the reader flashes red and green.
Solution:
The lock is not functioning properly and needs to be repaired by the Lock Shop.

Contact Facilities Customer Services to report the problem. Please specify door location, including entry where relevant, and include the results of your troubleshooting.
After business hours contact Public Safety.
