Response To Environmental Alarm
An alarm will sound in Public Safety warning of an environmental problem. Public safety acknowledges the alarm and creates an incident record. An officer is dispatched to determine the extent of the problem and, during business hours, simultaneously contacts any individual listed in the protocol. After normal business hours, Public Safety determines the extent of the problem before calling contacts.
Public Safety Notification
The alarm appears in Public Safety's monitoring station.
Response Time
Public Safety will respond immediately.
Limitations to Service
A contact is called only if the department has left a protocol on file and the information is current.
Information Required
Protocol and contact information must be provided to Puyblic Safety and posted on the room/lab door.
Communications Follow-Up
Public Safety will call individuals listed in the protocol provided by the Department.
Charges
There is no charge for this service.
Responsibility for Service
The Department of Public Safety (ext 8-1000) has primary responsibility for this service. You will reach the Communications Officer who will contact the supervisor on duty.
Service restrictions Or Other Relevant Information
Public Safety is not involved in “local” alarms internal to a department. It is the department’s responsibility to know which alarms are being monitored by Public Safety.
