Response to Forced Open Alarm
When a locked door is entered without a prox card being presented; an alarm will sound in the building at the door and it will appear on Public Safety’s monitoring station. Unlike a “held open” alarm, the alarm will continue to sound even after the door closes until it is “acknowledged” by Public Safety communications officer.
When Service Is Available
This service is available at all times.
Public Safety Notification
The alarm appears on Public Safety’s monitoring station and is accompanied by an audible. It also activates an audible at the door.
Response Time
Physical response is based on Public Safety’s work volume at the time the alarm appears on the monitor. Security Protection Level (SPL) 2 & 3 (known by department staff) will be responded to within 10 minutes.
Limitations
Because of the high volume of nuisance alarms, physical response is limited. Priority is given to SPL 2 & 3 buildings and dormitories.
Charges
There is no charge for this service.
