A Princeton graduate, Ken joined Toro in 1970 as director of marketing planning for the consumer products division. He held a succession of leadership positions, culminating in being named CEO in 1983, and Chairman of the Board in of 1987. In 2005, he stepped down as CEO but remained as Executive Chairman for Toro's Board of Directors, retiring fully from Toro in 2006. He then formed a new company, Leading by Serving LLC, whose mission is to advance the principles of servant leadership in business organizations.
Ken is the author of Making the Grass Greener on Your Side: A CEO's Journey to Leading by Serving. He is on many philanthropic boards and is a frequent speaker at national conferences on the subjects of servant leadership, building a values-based corporate culture, and how good cultures breed good ethics.
