U.S. Business Editor and New York Bureau Chief, The Economist
Award-winning journalist Matthew Bishop has served as the New York bureau chief of The Economist since 2006. He is the co-author of several books with Michael Green, including Philanthrocapitalism: How Giving Can Save the World. In 2012, he co-founded #givingtuesday, an online campaign to create an “opening day” for the giving season in the United States on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. He is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on the Role of Business, and previously served as chair of its Global Agenda Council on Philanthropy and Social Innovation. He also is a member of the Task Force on Social Impact Investing established by the G8 and is responsible for drafting its report.
