Director, Observatory on Borderless Higher Education, London
William Lawton is director of the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education, a research and monitoring unit that disseminates information and analysis on trends, policy, and the full range of international higher education activities at both institutional and governmental levels around the world. He was a founding member of the UK Higher Education International Unit, from 2007 until 2010. He earlier served as a political analyst and as head of academic relations at the Canadian High Commission in London. He has also taught Canadian and American politics and international political economy at the University of Hull. The observatory's recent research includes a report on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for the UK government and a "horizon scan" on what higher education might look like in 2020.
