Retreat - 10/04/2013
The 2013 Geosciences Department Retreat is fast approaching! We leave Friday October 4th at 12 Noon from just outside Guyot hall. Don't forget to bring your poster (1st years excepted) as well as:
Warm, preferably cotton-free (wool or synthetic) clothes, rain jacket, in case of adverse weather, headlamp or flashlight, camping equipment, if applicable
The general schedule is:
Friday, Oct. 4
12:00 pm, Pack vans, depart Guyot Hall
5:30 pm, Arrive at Heart Lake, set up tents / settle into lodge
6:00 pm Cook dinner, eat and socialize around the campfire
Saturday, Oct. 5
9:00 am Gather for breakfast, pack lunch, outdoor activities, as desired
5:00 pm Return to campground for dinner
Breakfast ~ 9:00 am on Saturday, and make sandwiches to take for lunch, then self-organize into groups for activities for the day. Return to campground by 5:30 pm, have dinner, poster session, and more campfires.
Sunday, October 6
Breakfast, make lunch, do short activities (more fishing, hiking, etc.), and drive back toward Princeton at Noon. For those interested, one or more of the vans could make geological stops on the way back, particularly the Gore Mountain garnet outcrops (43.708772,-74.100809 and elsewhere).
