Graduate Life at Princeton
Princeton is a small university in the historic town of Princeton, NJ, located near New York and Philadelphia. A train station on campus connects to all important trains serving the Northeastern corridor. Princeton Borough has preserved its historical character by maintaining many original Colonial buildings and homes.
The University has many athletic facilities for sports such as golf, tennis, basketball, sailing, soccer, swimming, and squash. The campus and nearby countryside have numerous parks and trails for hikers and cyclists. The renowned McCarter Theater presents concerts, dance programs, and professional theater. There are many opportunities on campus and in town to view first-run as well as classic and foreign films. There are numerous employment opportunities for spouses at Princeton University as well as other neighboring colleges, research institutions, and commercial enterprises such as Education Testing Service, The Gallup Organization, Johnson & Johnson, Merrill Lynch, David Sarnoff Research Center, McGraw-Hill Publishing, Siemens, Lucent Technologies, and Bristol Myers-Squibb.
The Geosciences Department has about 60 graduate students, all supported by assistantships or fellowships that cover tuition and living expenses.
