Xuefeng "Nick" Peng
Biography
Nick received a B.A. in Economics and Environmental Studies from Connecticut College. He studied at the Ecosystem Center, Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA, where he was introduced to biogeochemistry. Currently he is a PhD student studying nitrogen cycling in marine environments, advised by Bess Ward.

Environmental control of microbial N2O fluxes and Dissolved Inorganic Nitrogen (DIN) loss in salt marsh sediments with Jen Bowen, University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Research Focus
Functional diversity and distribution of ammonia-oxidizing archaea and bacteria in Oxygen Minimum Zones (OMZs) using amoA microarrays. Nitrification in OMZs and salt marshes.
