Lunch seminar by Pelin Batur, MD, The Cleveland Clinic
Litigation, Media, and the Future of Women's Health Care in 2013

Pelin Batur, MD, FACP, NCMP, CCD is a board-certified internist at the Cleveland Clinic. She graduated from medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, where she completed the accelerated, 6-year BS/MD track. She completed her internal medicine residency training at the Cleveland Clinic. With the goal of providing more comprehensive care in all aspects of women’s healthcare, she then completed specialty fellowship training in women’s health at the Cleveland Clinic. Her practice now consists of seeing women’s health consults as well as general internal medicine patients (both men and women).
Her areas of expertise include contraception (especially difficulties with multiple hormonal options), abnormal bleeding (pre or post menopause), breast concerns (including options for high risk patients), osteoporosis, headache, polycystic ovaries, menopause (discussing all types of hormone therapy). She also performs women's health procedures including colposcopy, IUD insertion, endometrial biopsy, cervical polyp removal, and vulvar biopsies.
She is Education Director for the Primary Care Women's Health program. The goal of this program is to improve the quality of care delivered to female patients within primary care. This is achieved via education of staff physicians, as well as updating protocols within the institution. She is one of the bone density reviewers for the Cleveland Clinic, and reads about 2000 bone density scans per year. She is closely involved with teaching of medical students, and holds a faculty appointment with the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. She speaks both regionally and nationally on the topic of contraception. She is also Deputy Editor for the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine.
