IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
IELTS is a testing arm of Cambridge University, United Kingdom ESOL examinations and the British Council. Students who wish to demonstrate English proficiency through the IELTS test should visit their website, for information about the administration of this test and how to have test results reported to Princeton in a timely fashion. Normally test results are mailed out in two weeks from the date of the test by IELTS administration and should be sent to:

Please note that IELTS scores expire after two years from your original test date. All scores MUST be valid through December 31. We do not accept expired or self-reported test scores nor do we accept copies of test takers reports.
Students must sign up to take the Academic Test version of IELTS. Students who score below an 8.0 on the speaking subsection of the IELTS will be required to take an English placement test. Students who do not pass the test will be required to enroll in English Language Program classes.
