Kodo Power Drummers
Kodo, Japan’s power drums corps, invokes the spirit of the Samurai in a program that is part athletic feat, part musical phenomenon, and all powerful. This troupe of “demon drummers” attack their instruments —the largest weighing 900 pounds—with a warrior intensity that preserves the primal power and bravura beauty of traditional taiko drumming. Based on Sado Island in the Sea of Japan where they live in their own village, the Kodo drummers have delivered the sound of taiko in 3,400 performances to more than 46 countries from war-torn Croatia to Carnegie Hall and now to McCarter for the first time since 2002. Seats are limited and are only available for Princeton graduate students. Contact Olivia at omartel@princeton.edu to reserve a ticket indicating your name, PUID number, and the last two digits of your social security number by Friday, March 8th. Please note: VSRCs (Visiting Student Research Collaborators) are not eligible to participate in the Tiger Ticket program. To bring a guest that is not a PU student you would need to buy their ticket for $15 and indicate this when you first email.
