The Music of Nico Muhly
If American contemporary music has a “composer of the moment,” it’s Nico Muhly, whose incidental music was one of the highlights of McCarter’s recent production of The Winter’s Tale. At the young age of 31, he has already created a wide scope of work for every possible genre you can imagine: orchestras (Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic), recitalists (Hilary Hahn), dance companies (New York City Ballet, ABT), film (Margaret, The Reader), and even pop groups (Grizzly Bear). His first full-length opera Two Boys, commissioned by the Met, will have its premiere there this October. Muhly has released several albums not only of his own music, but also as arranger and conductor for others. In his Berlind concert, he will be joined by two frequent collaborators, Sam Amidon (banjo and voice) and Nadia Sirota (viola). Seats are limited and are only available for Princeton graduate students. Contact Olivia at firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a ticket indicating your name, PUID number, and the last two digits of your social security number by Friday, April 11. To bring a guest that is not a PU student you would need to buy their ticket for $15 and indicate this when you first email. Please note, VSRCs are not eligible for the Tiger Ticket program.
