Medical Benefits

For Students

Every student is required to have health insurance coverage while enrolled at Princeton University. This health insurance must cover off-campus specialty care and hospitalization not provided at University Health Services. Undergraduate students may elect to enroll in the Princeton University Student Health Plan (SHP) or choose to waive out of automatic enrollment into the SHP by providing comparable insurance coverage on or before June 30 of each year. All graduate students are automatically enrolled in the SHP.

Students may also elect to participate in optional vision and dental plans that provide benefits beyond those included in the SHP by the August 15 deadline of each year.

For Faculty & Staff

Princeton University is proud to offer eligible faculty and staff a variety of health plan options that include outstanding medical treatment, prescription and prevention coverage; dental, vision and long term care benefit options. Please visit Human Resources' health care plan information for detailed information about eligibility and these benefits.

Most Princeton University health plans include online resources, from symptom information to access to registered nurses who are experienced in providing information on a variety of health matters.
