Our Building
The Center for Jewish Life (CJL) building supports an active community serving students, faculty, staff, and community members throughout the year. The building is owned and maintained by Princeton University through the Office of Religious Life to serve the Jewish community at Princeton University.
The building houses two auditoriums used for prayer services, classes, lectures, and other events, a kosher dining hall, library, Beit Midrash (Hebrew for “house of learning”), computer cluster, lounge, billiard room, TV lounge, and offices. The building has an elevator and is handicapped accessible. The CJL building is served by a University administrator, under the direction and support of the Dean of the Office of Religious Life (ORL). The CJL’s dining hall serves the University community with three meals a day, seven days a week throughout the academic year. Princeton University Dining Services manages the kosher dining hall. For more information, see our Kosher Dining page.
Building & Office Hours
The building is open daily from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Office hours are 8:45 a.m.- 5 p.m., Mon.-Thurs.; 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m. on Fridays.
Reserving Space
CJL and Princeton University recognized student groups or Princeton University academic and administrative departments may reserve space by completing a CJL Space Reservation Request form. Student and CJL affiliated groups have priority with space reservations. For information and further details regarding the spaces in the CJL, see Description of Spaces.
Individuals or groups outside of the University who wish to reserve space at the CJL should contact Princeton University Conference and Event Services.

Description of Spaces
Main (1st) Floor
Entry Foyer (Welcome Desk) – During the academic year, Welcome Desk Attendants staffed by Princeton students greet and assist visitors who enter the CJL.
CJL Dining Hall (Room 105) – Managed and staffed by University Dining Services, the kosher dining hall is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the academic year. All meal plans are accepted and students, faculty and staff may swipe-in for a meal. The dining hall has an adjoining small dining room (Room 105A) where many events take place including weekly “lunch ‘n learns.” The dining hall servery is accessed via the center hallway.
Wilf Hall (Room 100) - The auditorium on the main level of the CJL closest to the front door, also known as the Main Hall.
Lounge (Room 104) – Often referred to as the “Green Room,” this room found on the main level primarily serves as a place to relax and hang out, meet friends, study, read a magazine, and play games. CJL Student Board study breaks are typically held here. Those attending Friday evening Shabbat dinner enter the dining hall through the lounge.
Terrace – The outdoor terrace is accessed either from the main level, just off the lounge, or from a set of steps leading from the Ivy Lane side of the building. The terrace has tables and chairs.
Program Office (Room 103) - The office of the CJL’s Assistant Director and Student Life Coordinator. This office is just off the center hallway leading to the dining hall servery.
Administrator’s Office (Room 101) – The CJL Administrator’s office, located next to the front door.
Elevator – One elevator serves the building's three floors. On the main level, it is found in the front corridor next the lounge.
Lower Level
Feinberg Auditorium (Room 1) – This multipurpose auditorium is downstairs on the lower level and features a small kitchenette with a sink and refrigerator. A variety of events, including Shabbat services, play rehearsals, and CJL and Registrar's Office classes are held in Feinberg Hall.
Billiard and TV Rooms – Adjoining rooms where students can hang out and play a game of pool, enjoy a board game, watch TV, play Wii, or meet with friends. The TV room also contains a small kitchenette equipped with a coffee machine, refrigerator and microwave.
Restrooms – Found opposite the Billiard Room on the lower level.
2nd Floor
Main Office (Room 202) – The office of the CJL’s Director and Administrative Assistant. The office has a copy and fax machine. The Main Office takes all incoming and outgoing mail (U.S. Mail with postage and campus mail).
Development Office (Room 203) – Adjacent to the main office, the office of the Director of Development.
Educational Directors Office (Room 200) – The office of the Jewish Learning Initiative (JLI) Directors.
Accountant’s Office (Room 204A) – Just outside the library, where the CJL’s accountant is located.
Computer Cluster (Room 205) – At the end of the hallway to the rear of the building, this OIT maintained student computer cluster contains two windows machines, two Macs, and one printer.
Library (Room 204) – The library contains a collection of over 2,000 books that may be borrowed and returned. This room also serves as a meeting place, study space, and is typically where Friday Reform Shabbat services are held.
Beit Midrash (Room 206) – Found across the hallway from the computer cluster is the Beit Midrash, a study hall (literally a "House of Interpretation" or "House of Learning" in Hebrew). This room contains many Hebrew texts and often hosts classes offered by the CJL.
