Scholar in Residence: How Much is a Jewish State Worth?
In 2011, Palestinian philosopher Sari Nusseibeh published his controversial book, "How Much is a Palestinian State Worth?" He asked uncomfortable questions about how much violence is justified in the pursuit of sovereignty, and whether anything short of statehood might satisfy Palestinian needs. The work
was intended to be a provocation rather than a program for action. Zionism, and religious Zionism in particular, now requires a similar kind of provocation. Of what value is sovereignty and what forms might it take in the contemporary world?
