Ingrid Ockert is a third year P.h.D. student in the history of science program. Her interests include channels of scientific communication, gender and science, and technological optimism in the 1950s. Currently, she is exploring the dissemination of science through popular culture in the United States during the Cold War. Ingrid is particularly interested in learning about partnerships between scientists and journalists in the postwar period.
She graduated summa cum laude from Oregon State University (2012, B.A.), where she studied history of science in the 20th century. Previously, Ingrid interned at Oregon Public Broadcasting and TERRA Magazine. She also worked as an assistant archivist in Oregon State’s Special Collections and Archives Research Center.
