Historical Argument: Managing Discussion in the Classroom and as a Colleague
In this new workshop we will address the nature and value of our professional discourse, as well as the challenges it provides in the classroom and beyond. Professors Dirk Hartog and Michael Laffan will comment on the issues that arise during discussions over historical problems with contemporary implications, suggest tactics to foster students' ability to take informed positions, and discuss the ways in which historical perspective informs and complicates our thinking about modern life.
