Welcome

Serving Princeton for 40 Years

To address the fundamental needs and inequalities that existed in the John-Witherspoon community, Community House was founded in 1969 by an interracial group of seven undergraduates. The original House was established in the John-Witherspoon neighborhood to foster close relationships with the youth they wished to help.

Community House and You ... a Two-Way Commitment

Primarily Community House exists as a mechanism for community service where creative ideas become a reality through productive service projects. However equally important is its existence as a place for nurturing each student's personal identity and growth. For many students Community House is a place for the sharing of ideas and airing of challenges in a place where needs are understood and valued.

Fields Center -- After a year of major construction, crews will complete exterior and interior finishes at the former Elm Club at 58 Prospect Ave., which will house the Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding and Community House. The new tenants will move into the space in August for the beginning of the fall semester. The new site features a restoration of the former eating club to its original 1906 look, a full interior renovation and a 5,000-square-foot addition.
