Advising
We hope to connect with as many students as possible within the limited hours of the work week. Outside of larger presentations and programs, and our weekly newsletter, here are a few ways that students can interact with HPA:
Student/Alumni Appointments
To schedule an appointment, call HPA at 609.258.3144 and talk to Jen. She’ll work with you to find a time with an adviser, or may be able to point you in the right direction without having to come by the office! Appointments vary in length based on the busyness of the time of year. You don't have to have a crisis or a significant issue to discuss to make an appointment - we welcome you to just come in and introduce yourself!
Drop In Hours
An HPA professional staff member will meet with you briefly, one-on-one, to hear about your academic needs, concerns, or goals. A typical meeting is up to 15 minutes in length. Check in at our reception area in Suite 230 to sign in during drop-in hours – no appointment needed! Students are seen on a first come, first served basis, and you can peruse our library, use the HPA computers, or bring work to do while you wait. Drop-in hours are extended during the busiest times of the year – make sure to check Vitals or this webpage for the most up to date hours.
Applicant Appointments & Gchat Hours
A few phone and in-person appointments are reserved every week for students who are navigating the application process. Call the office to schedule an appointment, and be sure to identify yourself as a current (2013 or 2014) applicant.
Many applicants are far from campus and find it easier to connect via online chat. Gchat hours are sent out to applicants by email on a regular basis, and posted in the status message on the HPA gmail account.
We try to answer all emailed advising questions within a day or two during the regular work week: hpa@princeton.edu.
