Desired applicants: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior
Deadline: Friday March 1, 2013
The Monmouth Family Health Center (MFHC) is a non-profit community health clinic in Long Branch, NJ. MFHC provides high quality, comprehensive, affordable, culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate primary and preventative health care services to the residents of Long Branch and the surrounding communities. There are four different sites that focus on primary care, pediatrics, dental surgery and women’s health.
The summer intern will be a part of the IT/EHR department and will help to implement electronic health records system at the center. He/She will have the chance to learn about healthcare information technology and reform while being exposed to an underserved patient population. The intern will gain experience in medical documentation and terminology. As a member of the EHR team, the intern will be responsible for scanning patient charts, importing lab results and assisting with outside projects as necessary. There will be some opportunities to shadow primary care physicians and interact with other clinical personnel. Projects related to special interests of the intern can also be considered. This summer position offers a great learning experience for undergraduate individuals who think they might be interested in medicine, healthcare delivery, public health, healthcare administration or serving an underserved population.
This flexible unpaid summer internship will start in June 2013. Length of internship and hours can be negotiated. We hope to fill the position by the end of March 2013.
