Important Notice to Faculty and Staff Members with Prescription Coverage Prior To 2007

Express Scripts (previously Medco) has identified an issue that is  affecting some Princeton University employees hired prior to January 2007 who are attempting to fill prescriptions at retail pharmacies. This issue does not affect mail order prescriptions. Since January 1, 2013, affected individuals are being told their account was terminated. If you were hired prior to January 2007 and had prescription coverage, you would have received a Medco ID card in January 2007. Unless your pharmacy requested that you provide them with this new ID card, the pharmacy still has your old ID number in their system. Prior to January 1, 2013, this old ID number could be used. However, on January1, 2013, the Express Scripts system is no longer capable of recognizing the old ID number.

Express Scripts is issuing new ID cards to all impacted employees on or about January 18, 2013. Meanwhile, if you need to fill a prescription at a retail pharmacy and are informed that your account was terminated, you should request that your pharmacy call the Express Scripts Pharmacy Help Desk at (800) 922-1557. Express Scripts will provide the pharmacy with your correct ID number to complete the processing of your prescription and to update its records.

Prior to visiting your Pharmacy, you can also print a temporary ID card online. If you never registered previously as a participant with Medco and/or Express Scripts, you will be prompted for your ID number. You can either call Express Scripts at (800) 711-0917 to receive your ID number or use your Social Security number to register and access your information.
