Lotsa Helping Hands

Princeton University has contracted with Lotsa Helping Hands to provide our faculty, staff, graduate students and retirees with a no–cost, confidential Web–based service during times of need to build a community, known as your own “circle of community.” You or your family members can:

  • coordinate responsibilities
  • get assistance with organizing the activities of daily living
  • communicate with your family, friends and neighbors

How Lotsa Helping Hands Works

The features of the Lotsa Helping Hands website can help you and your family and friends deal with many of life’s challenges at the time you need it the most. You might be caring for an ill loved one or responsible for the well being of an elderly family member. You might be a parent of a newborn. It can provide you with a secure, simpler way to communicate with your family or community and offer you a convenient solution to help you coordinate, as examples:
  • meal preparation
  • getting the mail
  • arranging for rides to medical appointments
  • laundry and dry cleaning
  • walking the family dog
  • organizing and paying the bills
  • grocery shopping
  • picking up prescriptions
  • dealing with insurance
  • taking out the garbage and recycling
  • yard work
  • cleaning the house

To Get Started

To build your own circle of community, go to the Lotsa Helping Hands website and begin by reading through the information located under the tab, “How It Works.” It provides an overview and describes the features of the site.

When you’re ready to start, go to the “Create a Community–It’s Free” tab where you will be guided through a quick registration process, which includes agreeing to the usage terms of the site.

Once registered, you can begin to customize your community based on your specific needs. You will follow a series of steps that make the setup easy to do. You can invite your family and friends into your community by adding their e–mail addresses. No one except those you invite will be able to access your confidential, secure site. You can store information there that you decide is pertinent to your community.
