Labor Unions

Princeton University is proud of the relationship we have established with the labor unions representing approximately twenty percent of the workforce on our campus. Positions in areas such as dining services, building services, housing, grounds and building maintenance, athletics, the library, public safety, Plasma Physics Laboratory and the Art Museum may be unionized.

The job posting will indicate if a position is unionized. Most full–time bargaining unit positions have a probationary period of 90 days and are subject to union dues.
If you are a member of a collective bargaining unit, you should first refer to your union contract for guidance on policies, procedures, practices and/or benefits. The Labor Relations Team is responsible for negotiating and administering labor agreements intended to enhance the experience of all University employees.
