It is the responsibility of University supervisors to assure that federal and state laws and University policies which regulate the termination of employees are carefully observed. When a staff member's employment with the University is terminated, the supervisor must follow established procedures and document the termination so that payroll and benefits changes can be made in a timely fashion. In addition, the terminating employee's keys, library books, 0.1identification card (except for retiring employees) and other University property must be returned to the University.

Application of This Policy

Voluntary and Involuntary Terminations
|
Terminations may be either voluntary or involuntary.
Supervisors must review involuntary terminations in advance with the Office of Human Resources before taking action.
