Data Management Specialist, Office of Human Resources
Behind the scenes, Peter Cassaday, data management specialist in the Office of Human Resources, helps to take care of data management for employees’ salaries, jobs, benefits and personal information. Pete came to Princeton in 2000 to work in development’s Office of Alumni Records. He subsequently joined the HR team and has been in his current role since 2007.
Pete is a member of HR’s Services Delivery & Systems Team (SDS), which manages Princeton’s secured and confidential employment records for non-academic employees and benefits records for all employees. Along with several colleagues from the SDS Team, Pete makes the appropriate changes to job and benefit records annually for hundreds of new hires and thousands of employees and retirees. He says, “I enjoy working with my colleagues and furthering my knowledge of HR processes and policies.”
Pete also fields questions from employees regarding their records. Driven by his desire to provide prompt service, he likes to help callers on the phone for “quicker service.” However, when follow up is needed, he works directly with employees, managers, retirees, HR colleagues and the payroll office. He believes, “It’s best to get things in by the deadline but if something is unclear, I ask questions. It’s better to get it right the first time.”
Pete received his bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. He has been certified as a Professional of Human Resources and is a graduate of the University’s Management Development Certificate Program.
Many within HR know Pete as a huge Mets fan, but he prefers to think of himself as someone who likes all sports. He says, “My favorite is the one that’s in season.” When not at work, Pete enjoys playing volleyball and taking vacations around the country to go hiking, camping and rafting.
