Zia Bartley

Events Management, Communications & Budget Specialist, Office of Human Resources

Zia Bartley brought many skills and talents to Princeton when she joined the Office of Human Resources in 2008. As the events management, communications and budget specialist, Zia manages the University’s various staff recognition programs and events including, the Service Recognition Luncheon and President’s Achievement Award. She oversees the annual United Way Campaign, coordinates the Council of the Princeton University Community staff selection process and jointly organizes the annual MLK Day Celebration with the Office of the Provost.

When not fully immersed in the world of timelines, invitations, guests lists, decorations and managing volunteer committees, Zia develops a multitude of HR communications materials, including content for the HR website and print and electronic publications. She says, “I truly enjoy managing events, but being able to utilize my writing and design abilities is the icing on the cake.” She also helps to monitor HR’s budget.

Another job component, which Zia finds rewarding, is the production of the Service Recognition Luncheon video. It features service honorees and award recipients. She explains, “The video introduces individuals who have done amazing things at and for Princeton. It is great to hear their stories and help to present them, their work and accomplishments to the rest of the University community.”

Zia is known in HR for her wide smile and exceptionally composed demeanor under pressure. And while employees may recognize Zia’s name from the many e-mails and letters she sends, she relishes being behind the scenes, where she makes sure that “everything is going according to plan.”

Before coming to Princeton, Zia worked at Special Olympics New Jersey and Rutgers University as special projects manager and assistant director of programs, respectively. She is a proud Boston University alum and lover of all things Boston — the Red Sox, Celtics and New England Patriots.
