Two optional holidays (in FY2012) may be used at the staff member's discretion and with the approval of the supervisor for religious holidays or any other personal reason. In FY2013, staff members may use personal days in lieu of optional holidays. Refer to the CALM website for information about changes to time off policies, effective July 1, 2012.
Alternate holiday arrangements may be made by departments and offices, such as the University Library and Dining Services, where work schedules or union contracts dictate other holiday schedules.
Employees who would like to take the entire week between Christmas and New Year's must request time off from their supervisors and may use optional holidays or vacation days. Supervisors should consider appropriate staffing levels when approving time-off requests.
For policy information about University holidays, including pay practices, you should refer to policies 3.1.7 Holidays and 7.1.1 Overtime Pay. If you have any questions, please contact us.
