Extracurricular Opportunities Abroad
International internships and public service opportunities enable Princeton students to experience a broad range of work environments and projects within diverse cultures.
Housed within the Office of International Programs, Princeton's International Internship Program (IIP) offers pre-arranged summer internship opportunities to Princeton students, in locations around the world. Students who locate their own international internship may apply to IIP for an internship grant.
Community Engagement & Service Projects
Students wishing to participate in international public service immersion experiences are encouraged to pursue a summer public service internship. The summer international public service internship experience provides a broad opportunity to learn about current issues and public service work, and to effectively contribute to the work of the sponsoring organization. Students who want to participate in a domestic civic engagement break trip should contact the Pace Center to learn more about the Breakout Princeton program.
Princeton does not support international public service trips over semester breaks because of concerns about responsible and effective service, risk management, and fiscal responsibility, and, therefore, will not provide funding or sponsorship for students to participate in them. This University policy can be found on the University’s travel website and the Office of Campus Life.
Support for Student Organization Travel
Recognized undergraduate student organizations that are interested in planning a trip abroad should e-mail Tom Dunne, associate dean of undergraduate students, or call (609) 258-5750.
