ITIN Application Assistance
The Office of Finance & Treasury - Nonresident Tax Compliance & Reporting (NTCR) will be at the Davis IC to assist you with ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number) applications.
Attention: All international students who have a fellowship or scholarship but do not have a Social Security Number (SSN).
What: Apply for an ITIN in order to declare a tax treaty against your fellowship or scholarship. Representatives from the Office of Finance & Treasury Nonresident Tax Compliance & Reporting (NTCR) will be at the Davis International Center to assist you with ITIN applications by reviewing and accepting your applications and and forwarding them to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Who Should Attend: All international students who are receiving a fellowship or scholarship and who are from a country that makes them eligible to declare a tax treaty. You can determine if your fellowship or scholarship is covered by a tax treaty at List of Countries with Tax Treaties for Compensation. Refer to code 15 on this list to find out if you are eligible for a tax treat and to find the applicable treaty article number. Students who are NOT eligible for a tax treaty should NOT attend but rather, will be able to apply for an ITIN in Spring 2013 when they file their tax return.
What to Bring: Important! Be sure you are prepared with the required documents before Monday. You will need to prepare some documents ahead of time BEFORE your attendance on Monday. For complete instructions, please click here.
