Before you travel into or through any country other than your home country, you must check with an embassy of the country you plan to visit to inquire about specific visa and entry procedures. Be sure to check whether you will need a transit visa if you will be stopping in another country for airline transit purposes. The Department of State now has an online Visa Status Check tool that allows applicants to check the status of their visa applications. To be able to see the status of a visa application, an applicant needs to select the visa application type, the location where the visa application was submitted, and to provide the application ID or Case Number.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has launched an E-Verify Employers Search Tool that allows one to find employers currently enrolled in E-Verify. The search tool allows filtering, sorting, and exporting employer results. It replaces the lists of E-Verify employers and federal contractors that previously appeared on the E-Verify Website. This is important information for students on Optional Practical Training (OPT) interested in applying for the 17-month STEM OPT Extension.
