Princeton's Office of Information Technology operates several data centers that house administrative, academic and research computing systems along with associated networking and storage equipment. The total space available is about 13,000 square feet, with over a mega-watt of total server power supply. The power in all the data centers is protected from transient interruptions by Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), and one of the locations is also protected against longer power outages by a backup diesel generator.
OIT also hosts equipment for other departments. For a description of the hosting service, refer to the OIT knowledgebase article, "OIT Dedicated Server Hosting Service." As part of the hosting service, OIT can provide system administration for hosted servers, or we can simply provide space, power and cooling.
