International LGBT Human Rights In the aftermath of the 2012 election, bringing with it both the re-election of President Obama and the first major national success on LGBT ballot initiatives, what is the future for LGBT rights in US foreign policy? Jessica Stern, Executive Director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC), will examine the role of LGBT rights within the historical context of US foreign policy and the progress made during Obama’s first term. Stern will also discuss how the priorities of the U.S. LGBT rights movement are perceived globally, creating both synergies and challenges for local communities seeking self-determination in what can be the shadow of the American example. Executive Director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, Jessica Stern, will deliver a talk about global LGBTQA activism and the international movement for Human Rights.
