Observance of World AIDS Day/Day Without Art
The Art Museum will observe World AIDS Awareness Week (December 1–5) with a screening of Derek Jarman’s Blue (1993, 79 minutes). This haunting, visually lyrical film tells the story of the English filmmaker’s terminal struggle with AIDS and was made after he had experienced substantial loss of vision. Originally released just four months before Jarman’s death, the work is the artist’s last testament.
