Dangerous Crossings: Race, Species, and Nature in a Multicultural Age
Claire Jean Kim is an Associate Professor at University of California, Irvine, where she teaches classes on race, multiculturalism, and animal studies. Her second book, Dangerous Crossings: Race, Species and Nature in a Multicultural Age (Cambridge University Press, 2014), examines the intersection of race, species and nature in impassioned disputes over how immigrants of color, racialized minorities, and Native people in the U.S. use animals in their cultural traditions. Dr. Kim will engage us in an intensive covering of her work and how it may relate to issues of race at Princeton.
