LGBT and Human Rights in Africa: the United Nations and the Role Religion Plays
Executive Director of the Unitarian Universalist United Nations (U.N.) Office, Bruce Knotts, will discuss the role that religion plays in LGBTQ and human rights in Africa. Bruce Knotts has served as a U.S. diplomat in Greece, Sudan, Kenya, India, Pakistan, Ivory Coast, Zambia, and the Gambia. Bruce’s chief areas of focus are human rights, with an emphasis on women’s and LGBT rights; ending genocide, particularly in Darfur; and working for peace.
