Mosaic Conference: Building Bridges as We Walk
This regional conference is open to LGBT students of color from the Northeast region. The conference provides space for queer students of color to discuss, reflect upon, and share their experiences in a safe and affirming setting. LGBT students of color are encouraged to submit program proposals and/or attend this conference.

 

Princeton generally sends a delegation of students each year, depending on available funding. A general requirement is that Princeton delegates are currently active in the LGBT campus community, or plan to become active following the conference. For more information, contact The LGBT Center.

 

Creating Change: Detroit, MI, February 6-10, 2008

Sponsored by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, Creating Change is the premier national grassroots organizing and skills building LGBT conference. Each year the conference is held in a different region of the United States and attracts 2,500+ participants from within and outside of the LGBT community. The conference is well known for providing a unique environment where activists and leaders come together from diverse places and backgrounds to create a community that is both strengthening and inspiring to the participants.

 

Princeton sends a delegation of undergraduate and graduate students to this conference each year, depending on available funding. Internships

 

GayWeddings.com Internship

GayWeddings.com is offering both part-time and full-time internship programs. A part-time internship requires 10 hours per week of work involving the research and development of new product lines, partnerships, and advertising opportunities, the development of marketing and web content, and graphics. The full-time internship, with the option of commission through sales, involves all of the above plus the development of a vendor directory and the aiding of customer service and sales.

 

The internship requires previous experience in marketing, retail, or sales, interest in supporting the gay community, strong verbal and writing skills, and familiarity with HTML, MSOffice, and the internet. Please send your resume and cover letter to kathryn@gayweddings.com.

 

The Theater Offensive
The Theater Offensive seeks motivated, conscientious, arts/activist-oriented folks to intern in any combination of the following areas: community outreach & grassroots networking; grants and development; design, marketing & advertising; education & LGBTQ youth; arts programming and administration; guerrilla street theater; event production for LGBTQ youth; office administration; and more!

Experience with LGBT and racially diverse urban communities a plus. LGBTQ people of color are strongly encouraged to apply. Internships are non-paid but interns receive academic credit & are eligible for invitations to free tickets at area shows, cast parties, artist receptions and visiting artist workshops. Sorry, housing and transportation not provided.

In the Life

In the Life is a national television series in a newsmagazine format that reports on LGBT issues and culture that is beginning it's 14th year of production. The program is broadcast on over 130 public television stations nationwide, including all of the top 20 viewer markets, reaching over one
million viewers per episode.

In the Life Media, Inc. is currently looking for Field Marketing Interns to help promote the

Dyke TV

The Dyke TV office is in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Interns and volunteers help with everything from the mundane tasks of running the office to regular shooting and editing tasks. This is a supervised, for-credit internship that prepares people for industry. Anyone who is interested in volunteering can either call 718-230-4770 or email the office at staff@dyketv.org.

Scholarships

Princeton University’s LGBT alumni group, Fund for Reunion, is currently accepting scholarship applications seeking funding for undergraduate and graduate research projects.  Scholarship recipients are required to provide a copy of the completed work to Debra Bazarsky, Director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Center, in the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students. 

Interested applicants must provide required information, including a description of their work and its relevance to the LGBT community, a summary of expenses, and a summary of secured or anticipated funding from other sources.  Information about the scholarship and a complete list of requirements can be found at http://alumni.princeton.edu/~ffr-gala/scholarships.html

Rushed openly gay and didn't get in? Came out to your fraternity brothers or sorority sisters and received acceptance? Whatever your experience, voice it here.
 
Sponsored by the Lambda 10 Project National Online Clearinghouse for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Fraternity & Sorority Issues, the nation-wide study will explore LGBT experience within fraternities and sororities. The organization seeks undergraduate and alumni fraternity and sorority members who happen to be LGBT, along with LGBT students who have some sort of experience, positive or negative, with a fraternity or
sorority.All responses will be kept confidential and anonymous.

GLAAD Media Fellowship

GLAAD is offering Media Fellowships to work on National News Media and People of Color Media focusing on Communities of African Descent.  Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program at least half-time as a graduate or undergraduate student, or have successfully completed a graduate or undergraduate degree within the 12 months preceding the application deadline. GLAAD Media Fellows will work 30 hours per week and are paid a monthly stipend of $1500. Fellows are responsible for their own housing and living expenses but GLAAD may assist Fellows in finding affordable and convenient housing options.

 

Applicants need to have demonstrated leadership in progressive and/or LGBT communities, have strong written and oral communication skills as well as organizational skills, knowledge of and commitment to LGBT issues, computer efficiency, and experience in communications, media, journalism, organizing or public relations.
