Being Muslim in Secular France

A panel discussion, "Being Muslim in Secular France," was held on Monday, October 6 at 5:30 p.m. in 202 Jones Hall on the Princeton University campus. The event was part of the Islam in Conversation Series. The discussion focused on issues of integration and religious training of Imams and Muslim Chaplains in France. The event was co-sponsored by the Office of Muslim Life, Near Eastern Studies, International Center, and LISD's Program on Religion, Diplomacy, and International Relations.

Panelists were Olivier Bobineau, Professor of Politics and Religion both at the Sorbonne and at the Catholic Institute in Paris, and Mohamed-Ali Bouharb, a prominent religious leader from a new generation of Muslims in France and the leading Imam for the French army.
