Mannoor Wins MRS Gold Award
Graduate Student Manu Sebastian Mannoor gave a special talk during the 2012 Materials Research Society’s Fall Meeting yesterday and won the Gold MRS Graduate Student Award. The MRS Conference is the top Materials conference, and the Gold Award is the top national award for a materials graduate student. This is a huge honor for Manu and for the McAlpine group.
In addition to the Gold Award, Manu will also be one of the first students under consideration for a newly endowed award, the Arthur Nowick Graduate Student Award, which honors the late Dr. Arthur Nowick and his lifelong commitment to teaching and mentoring students in materials science. This award will be presented to the GSA finalist who shows particular promise as a future teacher and mentor. This award will consist of a plaque and $500.
