Computational Lab
The computational lab used fast PCs and workstations in the continuum modeling of phenomena observed in studies of cell deformation, MEMS/thin film deformation, laser/materials interactions, toughening of brittle materials and fatigue life prediction. A significant effort is also being made to develop bio-inspired design models in which basic concepts in mechanics are being applied to the design of functionally graded dental multilayers, cardiovascular implants, and the interfaces between biomedical implants and bone/tissue.
