Gas and Plasma Diognostics

Compared to a gas jet, plasma created in a gas-filled cell can be more uniform due to the confined-geometry and the plasma length can be much longer due to a lower neutral particle density gradient along the axial direction.

Current work focuses on creating a longer, more uniform plasma channel in the gas cell. A better understanding of the dynamics of plasma generation was established through studying the effects of different key parameters on plasma, such as, input laser parameters, gas pressures, focus conditions, etc. The longer and more uniform plasma channel created will further be utilized in our study of the nonlinear phenomena in plasma interaction with the ultra-intense laser field.
