
Educational Objectives
Voluntary Accreditation of an Engineering Curriculum is performed by a visiting committee of members of the relevant professional engineering and technical societies. ABET was founded in 1932 and accredits more than 550 national colleges and universities that offer more than 2500 programs.
Our Departmental programs have met the required educational standards and objectives of this organization since their inception. Typically the process takes place at six year intervals. MAE is presently preparing for the re-accreditation process that will occur in 2007

Educational Objectives for the Aerospace Engineering Program
To prepare graduates who will create new ways to meet society's needs through the application of fundamentals of engineering science to important practical problems using design, analysis, and synthesis of aerospace components, systems, and tools, and through basic and applied research.
To inspire graduates who will have the curiosity and desire of learning for life, and to instill in them the ability and self-confidence to adapt to rapid and major changes.
To prepare graduates who will become leaders shaping the social, intellectual, business and technical worlds.

Educational Objectives for the Programs in Mechanical Engineering
